With the success of legitimate money making ventures using the internet comes ways of defrauding unsuspecting people through scams. They are well presented. At first glance, they appear to be something that will work. In fact, they seem too good to be true. It is only after you have registered and typed down the details of your credit card will you realize that it will take a lot of effort from you at best. At worse it is bye-bye to your money.

A consortium of Agencies in the USA and consumer groups from 9 other countries made a study and came up with the top ten online scams. These are:

~Internet Auction Fraud ~Internet Service Provider Scams
~Internet Web Site Design/Promotions – Web Cramming
~Internet Information and Adult Services – Credit Card Cramming
~Multi-level Marketing/Pyramid Scams
~Business Opportunities and Work-At-Home Scams
~Investment Schemes and Get-Rich-Quick Scams
~Travel/Vacation Fraud~Telephone/Pay-Per-Call Solicitation Frauds (including modem dialers and videotext)
~Health Care Frauds

This is not saying that all offering in the list are scams. It just means that we should be careful in signing up with businesses such as the above.
